Happy Belated Birthday iPad!

In the midst of the buzz and bustle of Macworld a few weeks ago, the iPad quietly turned one year old to little fanfare. To celebrate, Mashable posted an interesting infographic on the device’s development, which speaks volumes. iPad not only surpassed analyst predictions, but literally blew them away at five times more than originally estimated, selling 14.8 million iPads in 2010.

This gave us the idea to take a look back at our year of development on the iPad. In June 2010, we launched the first full-featured, custom-built Office suite for Apple’s iPad that unveiled our proprietary design technology called SmartTouch. We noticed the iPad was the beginning of a new way of editing documents on the go. We also wanted to revolutionize the way we developed our applications to ensure a superior user interface and experience.

In December 2010, we added support for iOS 4.2 and integrated with two new remote cloud storage repositories, Huddle and SugarSync. Near the very end of the year, we brought comprehensive PowerPoint editing to our iPad users. Since our initial launch, we’ve remained one of the top 20 grossing iPad applications worldwide.

Thanks to our amazing customers and ongoing innovative development from our engineering team, we continue to be a rising app star on the iPad. In the future, we see more opportunities to further integrate our services with the ‘social publishing’ features we previewed at Macworld.
