Smartphones transform travel

It’s undeniable that smartphones are transforming the way people travel. USA Today wrote an article on this trend, highlighting different ways consumers use their favorite mobile devices to make travel less painful and more convenient. Beyond using applications to locate directions, check-in to hotels, access airline boarding passes and find restaurants, we feel it’s safe to say that many of these road warriors use mobile office applications to quickly edit documents on-the-go too.

In our recent smartphone blog contest, we uncovered many interesting ways and places people use their mobile device. Among the numerous locations listed, it was a common theme that people use their smartphone when they are traveling, whether that be in a car, bus, train or airplane. Bottom line, consumers use their smartphone everywhere, especially when they are out of the office.

For example, one user stated, “But the best place to use Quickoffice on a smartphone is definitely in airports or in other public transit situations. These situations always involve so much waiting, and being able to use this time effectively means more time for the important things in life. And no longer do you have to carry a laptop, awkwardly unpack it at security, and fumble with setting it up while trying not to disturb the people around you. With Quickoffice on a smartphone, you just do work whenever it is convenient!”

Would you agree? Does Quickoffice change the way you travel and help you stay connected and productive? We’d love to hear your thoughts.
