We’re growing, just ask our new CFO

The last few months have been pretty busy at Quickoffice. In case you missed it, here’s a quick run-down.

We hired our first CFO, promoted the man who’s helped put our software directly on more than 300,000,000 devices in nearly 200 countries and saw our mobile Office apps pre-loaded on five new devices from companies we know and love.

We’re calling it a good quarter.

Crunching the numbers

It started with Craig Holmes, our new CFO. The position was opened up by our rising revenue numbers, which created a need for the position. His charge will be to guide our financial and operational growth, as we move forward into our next development phase.

One of the best stories about Craig is the time he helped drive the successful IPO and $1 billion in profitable revenue growth for Excel Communications, Inc. (NYSE) as its EVP and CFO. And, for good measure, he’s also served as the EVP and CFO of Intervoice, Inc. (NASDAQ) and brings 20 years of financial experience to Quickoffice.

Thank you, Gregg

Our very own Gregg Fiddes has been bringing Quickoffice to the world since 2004 as our sales and marketing chief. This quarter, we appointed him senior vice president of sales and business development. Gregg has been the force behind our mobile distribution model, which has tapped into every natural channel created by the mobile industry. Fiddes will now explore new markets and customer segments for us.

Pick your device

A message to Android fans: We continue to grow at a tremendous rate on Google’s mobile operating system (OS) – despite any talk of fragmentation. We also covered more ground with eReaders, earning the distinction of being one of the five top-selling apps on Barnes & Noble’s NOOKcolor.

Not to be outdone, our Apple iOS team made ongoing enhancements to our top-selling iPad and iPhone applications.

And thanks to our decade-long relationships with device makers, you can now find our mobile Office app pre-installed on the Motorola Droid 3, Toshiba Thrive and Nokia E6.

So what's the word on editing on webOS. It's not completely dead, and there is a major influx of users with the fire sale. You probably had sales of 30-40,000 touchpads over the weekend if not more. Fire sale or not, those are new users who want some functionality. And the sale isn't over so you might have more than 200,000 new users over the next week or so. A resurgence of users, revived interset in the OS, hardware mfg's take notice, and boom, you have new solid hardware and the OS is reborn.

So let's see some editing. Thanks,

Ryan

I hope that your promise of full document editing for webOS is realized, especially with all of the new users this weekend that are looking for a solution.

Put bluntly, as an HP Touchpad user, and I believe I speak for many, I would even be willing to pay for a proper office suite for WebOS.  The only 5 things missing which prevent me from abandoning my laptop for my Touchpad are, in priority order:

1. word processor or office suite
2. Google voice/video chat
3. Netflix Watch Instantly
4. Hulu
5. proper photo/video camera software
