Will you pre-order an iPad?

Within day one, Apple is already pre-selling its latest and greatest innovation the iPad like hot cakes. Silicon Alley Insider stated the latest estimate from one blogger predicts Apple sold 74,000 iPads in the first 4.5 hours. Are you one of the Apple fanatics jumping on the bandwagon or are you still waiting to make a decision?

If you are still on the cusp, you may enjoy reading SmartMoney’s article, which offers five reasons to wait. The reason this caught our attention is the point on app availability.

We continue to hear a lot of questions about our plans for iPad development and the desire for a full-featured mobile Office app on the device. To whet your appetites a bit, we’d like to reiterate that we do have plans to develop a native iPad app that will support the user experience, which people will expect of an iPad application. It will feature complete support for Microsoft Office 2007 file formats and even more remote file access features, including access to Box.net, Dropbox, GoogleDocs and MobileMe iDisk. We will continue to unveil more details as we can. In the meantime, what feature would you like to see most on the iPad? You can post your ideas at http://quickoffice.ideascale.com/a/ideafactory.do?discussionID=11123 for our consideration.

The iPad will present a terrific mobile format basis for QuickOffice.  The appeal to those who travel for business will make it not only worthwhile, but tremendously more valuable. The sooner QuickOffice is available, the sooner I, for one, would consider buying an iPad.

If there is a full fledged QuickOffice version for IPAD, It will be a deal maker to get one of them iPADs!!!

I basically need the Word processing of the MS Word for a whole lot writings and stuff  while I meet people for meeting on the move and other that I will surf the Net and check email.

So, yes a full fledged MS Office will be a deal maker here.

My iPad is due to ship April 12. I agree with others, having Quickoffice on the iPad is essential. Ideally the iPad app will have fully editable Word, Excel and Powerpoint capabilities with Spellcheck. Should also be able to save as PDF's. Icing on the cake will be for Dragon Naturally Speaking to be functional with the Quickoffice iPad app. Plug in a headset and I will be all set. Thanks for considering,

Hello, sfvisionary!  We'd like to invite you to post the feature requests you have for Quickoffice on the iPad here: http://quickoffice.ideascale.com/a/ideafactory.do?discussionID=11123

Getting a 3G iPad at the end of the month and Quickoffice will be an essential tool for me. Can you please give us an update on when you plan to release the iPad version of Qucikoffice? It is an awesome application and will be even better on the iPad.

BTW, I had a friend ask why I wanted QuickOffice instead of Pages/etc.  My short list:

-Support for MS Office docs

-Integration with Google Docs / cloud services

Those two alone make for killer features for me...  :)

The versions of Quickoffice that are available in the App Store at this time are not optimized for the iPad.  We currently have a team devoted to developing an iPad-optimized, native version of our best-selling iPhone business app.  It is our focus to develop a smooth, robust user experience, which requires some re-writing of various functionality to adapt to the larger screen.  Our developers are working hard to make this new version available to users as quickly as possible.

Well I got my iPad a couple of weeks ago and I have to say it is brilliant.

Especially good for reading ebooks and newspapers.

I have to say the iPad is a nifty little device. Especially for the sake of meetings and impromptu presentations. Cloud computing really does make the device come to life. It's nice to see it's got so much support in terms of development. Not surprising though really when you consider the sales figures.

I definitely did not pre-order the ipad as I am the waiting kind! I did read on the news yesterday that Verizon is planning to start selling them soon. I would like to see what thier data plan prices are and how they compare with AT&T.

I am not a gadget lover but I have an ipad. If you not into it, I suggest get something that you'll love the most.
