Macworld recap, Best App Ever winner

Last month, several members of the Quickoffice marketing team and I attended Macworld | iWorld (formerly Macworld Expo). It was an exciting event this year, as the conference implemented a shift, not only in its name, but changed focus to more closely resemble the ultimate iOS fan’s fantasy. Of course there was still the presence of Mac-related products, but the overwhelming feeling in the air was all about...

The power of voice

With Apple's Siri technology debut, voice control integration has taken the spotlight. As CNET writer Christopher MacManus says, “typing with your hands is so retro.” In addition to Siri on iOS devices, Android developers have also released their own voice apps, capitalizing on the popularity of the technology. While voice control isn't new, the most recent versions from Apple and Android are definitely the...

Smartphones and tablets are being adopted by all walks of life at an unbelievably high rate, but you might be surprised which demographic is growing the fastest. If you'd guessed people in their twenties, you'd be wrong. Sure, they may be the largest percentage of smartphone owners, but a recent study from Nielsen shows it’s...

What's happening on the iPhone?

We recently executed a survey that looked at who is using iPhones, what they are doing with them and why, as we continue to seek out additional details about our customers to better serve their interests. Through the survey, we were hoping to discover if there has been a significant change in smartphone usage in the workplace and at school, as well as the types of tasks people are performing while...

Ultrabook trends, continued

We recently looked at the Ultrabook trend, and noticed that this movement continues to increase in popularity, as more reporters are covering the developments in the space and consumers are purchasing these devices.

The Financial Times recently wrote an article, that called them the ‘machines that have more of less’, meaning they offer more features and benefits, but they weigh less than a typical laptop. Weighing an average of three pounds, Intel forecasts that...

Another recent article and discussion caught our attention; this one focused on issues that need to be considered before integrating tablets in the enterprise. There are more than a handful of concerns associated with employers incorporating tablets, including...

A journey through mobile history

We recently came across several articles that took a journey, so to speak, through a piece of technology’s history, looking at the evolution of the mobile phone. Did you know that the first mobile call was made on an AT&T car phone in 1946? And that now 85 percent of American adults own a cellphone? This...

Android aplenty

It seems everyone lately is just as excited about Android as we are at Quickoffice. To-date, Google claims 190 million Android devices have been manufactured, while Sony announced 22 million of those products were its Android-powered Xperia smartphones. Things are going so well for Sony’s mobile division that they were recently able to...

Using mobility to increase ROI

According to statistics from Telework Research Network, current technology enables 15-20 million workers in the US to be mobile, road warrior employees. While this is still a relatively small number, it is one I see rising exponentially in the next few years, as technology continues to improve and makes it easier for people to do their jobs on the road.

A recent case study from InformationWeek looked at how Parata Systems, a pharmacy technology solutions provider, integrated mobile technology to help run their business more efficiently, improving customer service and ultimately boosting ROI. With approximately 365 employees, 140 of whom work remotely, Parata Systems needed a...
